1. How We Collect and Use Your Personal Information
1.1 Information that we collect
We collect your personal information based on the principles of lawfulness, fairness, and necessity. To provide you with our services, ensure the normal functioning and security of our products and services, and improve and optimize our products and services, we will collect the information provided by you, authorized by you, or generated when you sign in to or use our products and services.
The information we collect depends on the products and services you use, the environment in which you interact with us, and the choices you make, including your privacy settings and the products and features you use. You may refer to the Personal Information We Collect file incorporated into the App to gain a quick understanding of the personal information to be collected and used in connection with the features or services provided by the App. Please note that if you provide other people's personal information to us, you must ensure that you have obtained their authorization (and separately obtain their consent in the event of a special scenario).
The App can be used in either basic mode or full mode. Modules available only in full mode include Home, Health, Workout, and Mall. In the Home section, you may use the App to connect to, control, and manage your smart home devices. In the Health section, you may connect the App to your smart wearable health device to monitor your workout and health data in real time (including sleep, stress, female health, etc.). You may view the personalized workout and health tips that the App provides to you. In the Workout module, you can use this app as a workout aid, and you can turn on the ranking function to see where you rank compared to other users in your area (supported in certain areas only). In the Mall section, you may purchase smart devices and related accessories (supported in certain areas only). Please note that the aforementioned features may vary according to your region and the smart devices you use.
When we collect information, you are not obliged to provide your personal information. However, if you do not provide the information necessary to provide the basic features, we may not be able to provide you with the related products or services, nor can we respond to or deal with the problems you may encounter. The additional features are turned off by default. When you attempt to use any of such features or related services, we will display a prompt asking for your consent to turn them on. By turning them on, you agree to our processing of your personal information in relation to such features. If you do not provide such information, the additional features you request may not be available to you. This, however, does not affect your use of the basic features.
Please note that we usually consider the region that you select during your initial sign-in (or that you select subsequently through "Settings") as the actual place where the products and services are used and the jurisdiction whose laws and regulations we comply with, including those relating to data protection.
1.1.1 Categories of information we may collect
(1) Account-related information: To use the App, you may choose to sign up or sign in to your HeyTap Account. HeyTap Account services are provided by Guangdong HeyTap Technology Co., Ltd. ("HeyTap"). During the sign-up or sign-in process, HeyTap will collect your phone number or email address, password, and the sign-up SMS message to sign you up and assist you in signing in to your HeyTap Account to use related services. After you have signed up for a HeyTap Account, you may choose to complete your account details by submitting information such as your username, display name, profile picture, and gender. HeyTap will request permission to read your list of installed apps to ensure that your HeyTap Account can successfully sign in to all the apps and services accessible with a HeyTap Account and to determine whether your HeyTap Account has signed in to these apps. Please refer to the HeyTap Account Privacy Notice for information on how HeyTap uses and processes personal information. After you sign in to your account to use the App on your phone, the auto sign-in feature will be turned on so that your user experience will not be interrupted, and we will automatically obtain your HeyTap Account information (display name, profile picture, and the location where you sign in to the account). We may use the phone number or email address linked to your HeyTap Account to push notifications, surveys, and events to you, including notices of app updates and installations. You may need to send us an SMS message to verify your phone number, which may incur carrier costs.
(2) Information relating to after-sales and customer services: When providing after-sales services and customer support to you, we may request and collect your personal information, such as your device information (such as the IMEI number), account information, order information, log data, the contact information you provided (name, gender, phone number, email address, and postal address), issue description, and images and videos relating to your issue. We may also record the calls between you and our customer service representatives. We use the data to diagnose product issues, repair customers' devices, and provide other customer care and support services. We may also use the phone number or email address provided by you to perform identity verification or follow-up surveys. If you do not provide such information, we may not be able to effectively handle the issues you report to us.
(3) Device and network-related information: To let you manage your smart devices, such as smart home devices (cameras, lighting fixtures, energy-saving devices, cleaning devices, etc.) and wearable health devices (such as a band, watch, or body fat scale), we need to collect your device and network-related information. Device-related information includes the app list, the hardware information (such as the IMEI number and serial number), the MAC address, device identifiers (Android ID, OpenUDID, UDID, etc.), OpenID, device type, device configurations, software events, and device control and usage records. We collect such information to establish a Bluetooth connection between your phone and smart devices so that you can pair the smart devices with the App, control and manage the paired smart devices, set parameters for these devices, and check their working status and usage data. Such information will also enable us to statistically understand how the smart devices and related services operate and to improve the device quality and services. Network-related information includes the IP address, network type, and network connection status. We collect this information for the purpose of improving your network connection experience. To connect the smart devices to a Wi-Fi network, you shall configure network settings for these devices on realme Link. During this process, you need to enter the name and password of the Wi-Fi network. This information is only used locally to configure network settings for the smart devices, and it will not be uploaded to our cloud server.
When you connect a smart device to your phone through Bluetooth, realme Link will request the Bluetooth and Location permissions from your phone. After the smart device is connected to your phone, the gender, date of birth, height, weight, and other personal information that you have entered or will enter in the App or your call logs on your phone may be synced to the smart wearable device (such as a band or watch) for more accurate data monitoring and usage statistics.
If you do not provide the above information, you will not be able to use realme Link to discover, pair, control, or manage your smart devices, or you may be restricted in using some features of the App.
(4) (4) Location information: We collect various information relating to your device or your location, such as the device's GPS signal or information about nearby Wi-Fi access points and cell towers, the device's location, the network service provider ID, area code, country code, city code, mobile network code, mobile device country code, cell ID, area name, latitude and longitude coordinates, and the time zone and language settings. When you set the location of your home, or when you create an auto scene in the Explore section and specify the location as a trigger condition to automate the smart devices concerned to perform the specified action, we need to obtain your location information. When you specify leaving or arriving at a specific place as a condition to trigger an auto scene, we use your location information we collected to realize the geofencing function, which allows us to determine the distance between the specified place and your current location and figure out whether you have left or entered the specified place. For example, you may configure your air conditioner to automatically turn on or off when you enter or leave your home. When you specify "When outdoor weather changes" as a condition to trigger an auto scene, we use your location information to determine the weather near the place you specified. For example, you may configure a room light to automatically turn on at sunset. When you use the workout ranking feature, the App will use your location information so that it will be able to show you the workout rankings of all the realme Link users located in the same city as you.
We may also collect location information to provide other services or in other scenes. For example, we need to collect location information to provide you with weather services; or when you attempt to pair your smart device with the App, some third-party systems/apps on your phone such as the Android system may request the Location permission to discover your smart device.
If you do not provide the above information, you will not be able to pair your smart device with the App, or you may be restricted in using some features of the App. We will ask you whether to turn on Location for location-based apps. You may go to the Settings app on your phone to change the location settings, such as by changing or disabling the methods and servers used for location-based services to change the location information to be provided to us.
(5) Workout data: To record and manage your workouts, we need to collect your device's location, motion trajectory, type and duration of exercise, step count, standing time, heart rate during exercise, and workout logs, of which the motion trajectory and location information are sensitive personal information. The purpose of collecting such information is to record and calculate your daily workouts and motion trajectories so as to provide you with personalized fitness services. If you do not provide such information, we will not be able to generate or save your workout logs.
When you use the workout ranking feature, we will also collect your account's profile picture and display name, distance traveled, step count, and calories burned so that the App can show you the workout rankings of all the realme Link users located in the same city as you. The aforementioned data will also be displayed in the ranking list. If you do not provide such information, you will not be able to use the workout ranking feature.
(6) Health data: To manage your health data, we need to collect data about your sleep, heart rate, SpO2, personal physical condition, menstrual cycle (for females only), and stress. Health data is sensitive personal information. The purpose of collecting such information is to measure, record, and display your health-related data so as to provide you with personalized health services. If you do not provide such information, we will not be able to show you the working status of your wearable health device, detect your health data, or provide you with your historical health data.
(7) Voice data: When you use the camera or voice communication feature on your smart devices, we need to collect your voice data for you to control and use the smart devices. Such information will only be processed locally and will not be uploaded to our cloud server.
(8) Data shared between devices: When you invite family members to join your home or share your smart devices with them, you may need to provide their phone numbers or email addresses to us, so that we can send them an invitation, or so that they can receive the information about the smart devices you shared.
(9) Upgrade data: To upgrade the App and the firmware of the paired smart devices and analyze our business operations, we need to collect the following information relating to you: the identifiers and types of the paired smart devices, the identifier and version number of the App, and the firmware versions of the smart devices. We collect such information to detect and download the latest available updates. If you do not provide such information, you will not be able to upgrade the App or the firmware of the smart devices.
(10) Reminders and notifications: In the App, you can set incoming call or message notifications, alarms (through the alarm clock), event reminders, and health reminders and configure your smart device concerned to perform these functions. Such settings do not require your personal information. You can complete and manage the settings in the App on your own. If the smart device can display and answer incoming calls, when it connects to the App, the App may collect your contacts and transmit them to the smart device through Bluetooth for it to display a notification in the event of an incoming call or message. This also allows you to set your favorite contacts on the smart device. Such information will only be kept locally on your device and it will not be uploaded to our cloud server. You can process such information at your own discretion.
(11) Behavioral data: When you use a paired smart device, we need to obtain your behavioral data, such as statistical data on your use of the product features, upgrade data, website browsing data, tap events, and performance data. We collect such information to optimize our product features and the logic of our user interface layout and to develop new product features so as to make our user interface layout and features more usable. The aforementioned information is unable to identify a specific natural person, and we will not relate our analysis data to your personal information.
(12) If you choose to participate in relevant lucky draws or competitions, participate in the promotional or marketing activities organized by us or our business partners, complete relevant surveys, or participate in user forums or blogs held by us or our business partners, you may need to provide us with your personal information such as display name, real name, picture, phone number, email address, and postal address (the information may vary depending on the actual activities). We may use the contact information you provide to conduct user research and follow-up surveys. Failure to provide such information has no impact on your use of the App.
(13) When you take videos or photos using a paired smart device (such as a smart camera), you may capture video clips or screenshots on realme Link. The video clips and screenshots will be stored in the Photos app on your phone and uploaded to our server so that you can view them on your different devices. We will not use the video clips or screenshots for any other purposes, nor will we share them with any third party. If you do not agree to our collection of such data, you will not be able to view them on your phone.
(14) Log data: We collect information about your use of certain features of the App or the paired smart devices and of our mobile apps and websites, such as cookies and other anonymous identifier technologies, network request information, temporary message history, the time and duration of your use of our services, the search keywords entered by you via our services, standard system logs, and information about your device and software events (such as restarts, upgrades, errors, and crashes). We collect such information to verify your identity, analyze the efficiency of our business operations, and prevent fraud. The Android system is designed in such a way that your error or crash events will include the overall system status at the time of the event. We use such information only for error log analysis, and we will not use it for individual identification or any other purposes. The logs we collect are cleared on a regular basis.
(15) If applicable laws and regulations in your country require real-name authentication, we will also collect your identity information such as your real name and ID card number. If you refuse to provide such information, we may not be able to provide you with the products or services you request.
(16) Third-party services: (a) During your use of our products or services, you may tap "Pair device" to add certain products produced by our ecosystem service partners (or third-party manufacturers), such as watches, bands, body fat scales, and other similar products. When you use relevant features, the third-party manufacturers may also collect your personal information. Before using these features, you should carefully read the user agreement or privacy notice of the third-party manufacturers. We are not responsible for how the third-party manufacturers use the personal information they collect from you, nor can we control their use of such information. If we need to process your personal information beyond the scope of personal information you previously authorized the third-party service providers to process, we will obtain your explicit consent before processing such data. In addition, we will strictly comply with relevant laws and regulations and require the third-party service providers to ensure the legality of the information that they provide to us. 4. How We Protect Your Personal Information
4.1 Our data protection measures
We take personal privacy very seriously. We take all reasonable and actionable technical and organizational measures to protect the personal information we collect in connection with our services from unauthorized access, disclosure, use, or alteration, or from damage or loss. The measures we take to protect your personal information include the following:
(1) We use mainstream security means such as SSL or TLS to encrypt many of our services. We regularly review our practices regarding information collection, storage, and processing (including physical security measures) to protect our systems from unauthorized access and alteration.
(2) Subject to relevant regulations, we have appointed a person in charge of personal information protection and set up a personal information protection task force. We have also established relevant internal control processes to ensure compliance with the principle of least privilege. We strictly control access to personal information and only grant access permissions to our employees and those of an authorized service provider who need to access personal information in order to help us process such information. These employees are subject to strict contractual confidentiality obligations. If they fail to perform these obligations, they may be held legally liable or be terminated. Personal information access logs will be kept and audited periodically. We require that employees who need to access sensitive personal information should obtain permission from relevant management personnel. In addition, we take technical measures to prevent people from accessing, modifying, copying, or downloading such information without authorization.
(3) The security of your information is very important to us. Therefore, we will continue our efforts to protect the security of your personal information and implement safeguards such as encrypting stored data and using end-to-end encryption during transmission to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. In addition, certain encrypted data is inaccessible to anyone other than the user.
(4) When transmitting and storing special types of personal information such as sensitive personal information, we will use security measures such as encryption. When storing your personal biometric information, we will take technical measures to process it, such as only storing a summary of your personal biometric information.
(5) We carefully select business partners and service providers and include our requirements for personal information protection in our business contracts, audits, or assessments.
(6) Internally, we publish and implement data security regulations to define the standards and requirements for protecting user data (including users' personal information).
(7) We conduct security and privacy protection training, tests, and publicity activities to raise our employees' awareness of the importance of personal information protection.
(8) We use international and industry-recognized standards to protect your personal information and actively acquire security and privacy protection certifications. We have established sound mechanisms to ensure smooth coordination and communication with regulators, third-party security service providers, and security evaluation and certification organizations to promptly defend against and deal with information security threats so as to protect your personal information and privacy.
4.2 Notification and response to personal information security events
Please note that although we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no websites, internet transfers, computer systems, or Wi-Fi connections are 100 percent secure.
To respond to possible privacy risks such as the leakage, corruption, or loss of personal information, we have developed a variety of mechanisms and measures to define personal information security events and the procedures to deal with the events. We have set up a professional emergency response team responsible for personal information security plans to reduce losses caused by information security events, as well as to analyze, identify, and handle such events. The team also works with relevant departments to follow up on information security events in accordance with our regulations and requirements for dealing with personal information leakages.
In the event of any security breach of your personal information, we will promptly inform you of the event in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, including the situation and the possible impact of the event, the measures taken or to be taken by us, suggestions on how you can prevent and reduce risks, and remedies available to you. We will promptly inform you of such information by email, letter, phone, or push notification. When it is difficult to inform each personal information subject concerned, we will publish an announcement in a reasonable and effective manner. We will also report the handling of the event in accordance with the requirements of regulatory authorities.

In addition, we may not respond to your request if it directly involves any issues that directly concern public interests such as national security, national defense, public health, and criminal investigations, or if it may result in serious damage to the legitimate rights and interests of you or any other individual or organization.

6. How We Process Children's Personal Information
Most of our products, websites, and services are intended for adults and they do not target children (we regard people under the age of 14 or a similar minimum age defined in the relevant jurisdiction as children). We do not provide services directly to children. Please note that due to technical limitations and other objective factors, our products and/or services may not be able to actively identify the age of users.
If you are a child, you shall obtain the consent of your parent or guardian before using the App, and be sure to carefully read this Privacy Notice together with them. Children may not use our products or services without the consent of their parents or guardians.
It is the responsibility of parents and guardians to urge their children to use our products and services properly. If you are a parent or guardian of a child, we hope that you will work with us to protect children's personal information and raise their personal information protection awareness and ability. You shall ensure that your children use our products and/or services with your consent and under your guidance. Before assisting your children in using our products or services, you shall carefully read this Privacy Notice together with them.
We collect, process, and use children's personal information only when permitted by law, with the express consent of their parent or guardian, or as necessary to protect children. If we find that we have collected children's personal information without having obtained express and verifiable consent from their parent or guardian, we will try to delete the relevant data as soon as possible.
We do not actively collect, store, use, transfer, or disclose children's personal information, let alone use their personal information for marketing purposes. If you are a parent or guardian of a child, or if you otherwise find that any information we processed may contain the personal information of a child, please contact us as set forth in the "Contact Us" section below. We will do everything we can to delete the relevant data as soon as possible.
7. Third-Party Service Providers and Their Services
This Privacy Notice does not apply to products or services provided by third parties. realme products and services may contain third-party products and services as well as links to third-party websites. Such links are not our recommendation or endorsement of the linked content. You can choose whether to access or use any website, product, or service provided by a third party. The operators of the third-party websites that our products or services direct you to and the providers of the third-party services that you access through our products or services have their own privacy policies. When you access a third-party website or use a third-party app, the website or app may obtain and use your personal information. We have no control over such third parties, and their access to and use of personal information about you are not subject to our control or this Privacy Notice. We assume no responsibility or liability for their privacy policies and personal information processing activity.
We will use commercially reasonable efforts to require such third parties to take measures to protect your personal information, but we cannot guarantee that they will take protection measures as per our requirements. Therefore, before using their services, we strongly recommend that you carefully read their privacy policies to determine whether to use or continue to use such services.
The App may have integrated with certain software development kits (SDKs) or other similar applications from our authorized partners to enable you to use related services contained in the App. We carefully review the purposes for which the SDK providers use your personal information, assess their security capabilities, and bind them to a legal cooperation agreement. We implement strict security monitoring to protect data security. To secure your information to the maximum extent, we strongly recommend that you read the privacy terms for any third-party SDKs before using the services provided by such SDKs. If you find any risks associated with such SDKs or other similar applications, we recommend that you immediately stop using them and promptly contact us.
We may have also integrated other SDKs as tools into the App to implement specific product or service features. Please be aware that such SDKs do not collect any personal information or require any sensitive app permissions. For example, we have integrated OkHttp3 for making network requests, Glide for providing the image loading functionality, and JSON for formatting.
However, some other SDKs from certain service providers will request sensitive app permissions or collect and process your personal information. For example, the Tuya, RYEEX, iDO, and Lifesense SDKs will request the Bluetooth permission from your phone to connect the App to relevant IoT devices. The Zxing SDK will request the Network, Camera, and Storage permissions for the purpose of scanning QR codes. The Firebase SDK will request the Network and Storage permissions for statistical analysis purposes. You may go to the SDK providers' official websites to view their privacy policies.
When you use the Google Fit service available within the App, your heart rate, physical activity (such as step count, consumed calories, and sleep), location information, body measurement data, and other personal information will be collected and processed by Google. In this case, the collection and processing of your personal information are subject to Google's terms and privacy policy. For the Google Fit privacy policy, please go to https://developers.google.com/fit/policy. For the privacy policy of Google, please go to https://policies.google.com/privacy.
